Video Game Review: Dead or Alive 4 for Xbox 360

If you enjoy video games that involve constantly beating the crap out your opponents but find that they lack in a descent story then you probably have been missing out on the Dead or Alive series. The newest in the Dead or Alive series has been recently released for the XBOX 360, Dead or Alive 4. Fans of the previous editions will enjoy the same characters, along with some new ones. Each character posses a captivating story behind them that puts a new spin on traditional fighting games.


First off, as fans of the Dead or Alive series know, characters you play as progress through a story mode. But many questions were left unanswered in the previous versions of the game. Dead or Alive 4 answers many of these questions. As you play through battles, bits and pieces are revealed in dramatic cut scenes. Some of the characters you play as are: Ryu Hyabusa, Christie, La Mariposa Brad Wong, Kusumi, Kokoro, Hitomi, Jann Lee, Tina, Hayate, Bass, Zack, Ayane, Lei Fanq, Eliot, and many more! But those were just old favorites from the previous games. What about some new ones? I’ll give you a hint. There are a couple of new and unlockable characters in Dead or Alive 4. One of the most sought after is Spartan 458, also known as Nicole. Ever play Halo? Still not sure? She resembles the infamous Master Chief! Each character has new costumes; some even have new hair styles.

Since Dead or Alive 4 is on the new XBOX 360 console, you can expect to see some massive improvements with regards to visual effects. All of the 3D environments look real. Everything is massively detailed. Each character model has flawless details and smooth textures. The back ground is also highly detailed. It truly looks like a real living and breathing environment!

Dead or Alive 4 features new and highly complex fighting systems. These new systems are made to help you perfect your fighting techniques and strategy. Each character has different skills and techniques, so learn to use them and use them well to progress in the game! The controls of the game are flawless and easy to master. In fact, the character movement is fluid and quite realistic looking.

Dead or Alive 4 is only available for the XBOX 360. The ESRB rating is M for Mature. This is because the game features gore, blood, violence, partial nudity, and sexual themes. This means that you must be at least 17 years old to purchase this game. If you need some help, or if you like to cheat, a strategy guide is available. Lastly, the XBOX 360 allows for online play with the XBOX live features. This allows you to play Dead or Alive 4 with other players throughout the world!
